Combat Stress is the veterans mental health charity . Currently the charity is helping almost 6,000 UK veterans get their lives back. The charity helps those suffering from mental ill-health caused by military service, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.
Support is provided through a 24 hr helpline, community support centres and specialist clinical treatment at three residential treatment centres, in Ayrshire, Shropshire and Surrey. In 2020 Combat Stress received 15,000 calls which translated into 3,000 interventions. On average it takes a Service Leaver 13 years after leaving the Armed Forces before they feel willing or able to contact agencies like Combat Stress to help them through their difficulties.
